The SHIP data access process

The diagram below shows all the processes involved from the initial contact with SHIP through to the release of outputs following completion of the data analysis:

The necessary permissions from data controllers and ethics committes must be obtained before any project commences.  More details on this process and guidance on how SHIP will help you to submit your data access application can be found in the route-map 'researchers: making an application to access data through SHIP'.

Once data controllers have agreed to release the data and the researcher has signed a data sharing agreement then the data will be indexed and then either transfered to a SHIP Safe Haven or directly to the researcher for use in their research project.
